Conference interpreter and translator
English, French, German and Spanish (Spain and Latin America)
ABOUT ME
Are interpreters born or made? In my case, the answer to this eternal question is
conditioned by several factors.
It could be due to being raised in southern Spain by my Ecuadorian father and my Spanish
mother, a seasoned traveller, that a mélange of cultures has been part of my life, ever
since I can remember. It is therefore not surprising that after many years learning English, I
would choose to read Translation and Interpreting at university, where I developed a keen
interest in interpreting.
I used my knowledge of German to work at a known German bank, I learnt French while
working as a receptionist at Disneyland Paris, and after being an in-house translator for
several years, I finally decided to follow my real passion: interpreting. I first completed a
post-graduate degree in Interpreting for Public Services at the University of La Laguna
(Tenerife, Spain) and then a Master’s in Conference Interpreting from Heriot-Watt
University (Edinburgh, United Kingdom).
Thanks to these qualifications, I started taking baby steps as an interpreter in London,
which proved to be a unique experience that led me to interpret in hospitals and for social
services throughout Scotland. I also gained the chance to travel to many European cities
and collect many anecdotes interpreting for well-known figures, such as the footballer Luis
Suárez, actress Angelina Jolie and Nobel Peace Prize laureates, Jody Williams and Shirin
Ebadi.
After six years on British soil, I decided to go back to my roots and returned to Spain. I
started a new fruitful, enriching professional chapter in my home country: interpreting at
large conferences, political events, cultural festivals, business meetings, tours of
agricultural cooperatives and factories, conferences throughout Europe and even remotely.
There’s no stopping me!
So, are interpreters born or made? I think it is six of one and half a dozen of the other.
After all, the most interesting things in life result from fusions.
SERVICES
Interpreting
Whether I’m working from the booth, with a portable interpreting station or providing chuchotage/whispering services, I will help you overcome language barriers. Contact me and tell me about your language needs, and I will advise you on the best interpreting solution for your event.
Communicating with the rest of world is now a breeze!
Conferences
Since I started my interpreting career in 2011, I have honed my simultaneous interpreting skills at
a wide range of conferences, specialising in human rights and medicine.
Furthermore, thanks to my Spanish-Ecuadorian roots, I can easily adapt to Spanish or
Latin American audiences.
Meetings and visits and tours
For business meetings, site visits or any other type of context, I can provide other
interpreting modes, either with the help of real-time note taking (consecutive interpreting)
or simultaneously, using portable interpreting equipment (Infoport).
I have my own equipment available for small meetings with few participants and I offer
interpreting equipment rental services for larger meetings.
Remote interpreting
Given the new modalities that appeared after the Covid-19 pandemic remote or online
interpreting has become the norm. However, thanks to technology, there is now no
need to cancel conferences and meetings. With standard computer equipment, a good
Internet connection and an interpreting platform, your multilingual event can go ahead
wherever your participants are in the world.
Remote interpreting is not new to me, as I have perfected this interpreting mode in recent
years with clients with several offices in different countries.

Do you have a document that needs translating?
Do you need a marketing, medical, legal or financial text? Thanks to my vast

to offer a solution in line with your needs.
What’s more, since I collaborate with a wide network of professional translators, I can

Or do you need a sworn/certified translation to make the text legally valid?
Not a problem, whatever you may need, contact me and I will happily send you a detailed

Training
My experience in the language industry and the love I feel for my profession help me to transfer knowledge in the best way I know how: with patience, a proven method and real-life examples.
Spanish as a foreign language (ELE)
I’m ELE-certified and offer private Spanish classes for all learning levels. My classes are online and flexible, and I adapt my teaching methods to suit your needs. You’ll enjoy friendly conversations and learn interesting facts about Spanish and Latin American culture (remember, I’m half Spanish, half Ecuadorian), all with an Andalusian accent, as I am from the south of Spain.
Spanish as a ‘C’ language
If you’re a conference interpreter and want to expand your working languages, look no further! I teach Spanish as a ‘C’ language to interpreters using methods in line with our profession’s requirements. And, since we’re always tight for time, my classes fit around your schedule, are online and available throughout the year.
Interpreting techniques
Are you studying Translation and Interpreting, but the interpreting module is a
struggle? Or maybe you’re already working in the field and want to perfect your
skills. Whatever your case, thanks to my experience as a private tutor and a lecturer
at Pablo de Olavide University, I can teach you interpreting techniques via private
online classes. In my classes, you’ll learn – or improve – the most relevant
interpreting techniques: liaison, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. Classes
are flexible, and I will personalise them to work towards your objectives. My past
students were thrilled with the results – all have had a 100% pass rate!
